ETA Certification Renewal:
Certification renewal is a key feature of ETA certification. A successful CET and FOI student will hold that ETA certification for four years only. The CET student must re-validate their ETA certification by retaking and passing one of the current Journeyman CET exams, or by acquiring 10 educational contact hours per year and a total of 40 hours for the four year period, or electronics instructors can recertify by verifying their employment as an electronics teacher at an educational institute, or by attending or completing in-house training programs sponsored by corporations or other organizations and associations; or by attending program presentations at related technical or professional meetings.
The FOI student can submit your renewal application if you have been working either as a fiber optic installer, technicians, engineer, or educator since you obtained your FOI certification, and have received 24 or more classroom hours of additional fiber optic training, or take a recertification. If you have not been working in the fiber optic industry as a fiber optic installer, technician, engineer, or educator since you obtained certification you will be required to attend an approved CFOI installer refresher course to renew your FOI certification.
